Strong aesthetic feelings, philosophy of fostering the Japanese traditional culture, and excellent techniques of the breeders who have pursued the beauty of Nishikigoi for over 200 years: these are the reasons why Niigata’s Nishikigoi are well loved in the world and why they have been able to achieve the best quality and value. Each one of the breeders, called Koishi *1 or Koishokunin*2, has individual characteristics and commitment which are reflected in the Nishikigoi they create. Nishikigoi is a work of fine art that the breeders perfect using the live body of Koi as if they were a painting. This page brings you the breeders’ passions for Nishikigoi which are an enthusiastic message for all those who love Nishikigoi. We hope you enjoy reading them.
