The 50th Nogyo-sai Nishikigoi Show

-The 50th Nogyo-sai Nishikigoi Show as part of National Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Festival-

The 50th Nogyo-sai Nishikigoi Show was held on Saturday October 30th and Sunday October 31st in 2010 at Ojiya City General Gymnasium.

It started raining on Saturday but fortunately became a beautiful sunny day on Sunday. 863 Nishikigoi were exhibited in this year. The number of the Nishikigoi exhibited almost doubled from the Nogyo-sai after the disaster of the earthquake. In addition, memorial event was held for its 50th anniversary during the show. Traditional dance and music of Niigata were introduced in the event.

We would like to congratulate Mr. Hajime Isa of Isa Koi Farm for achieving the deserved honor in this high level competition.

[Commentary]

We are so proud of the great honor in receiving this award with our beautiful Showa. Finally, we won the desired prize in the year of 50th Nogyosai. I still feel like having a dream. This 7-year-old Showa sizes 86cm long was born from Maruten, our splendid Oyagoi. It appeals with its snow-white Shiroji and apparently looks very elegant. It still has potential to improve its size and beauty.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have supported us. Thank you very much. Also, we are and will devote ourselves to breed the best Nishikigoi we can.

[Commentary]

The excellence of this Sanke is definitely its Hi standing out against its pure white skin. The Hi plate is not only bright and glossy but equally thick. Its Sumi patches are placed in a balanced manner.

We have more beautiful potential Nishikigoi at our farm, so we would like to put our efforts on improving their quality as well.

Prizes

(1) Groups
A total of 165 groups (11 varieties), which are entered under different classes from Class 15 to Class Over-80 according to their sizes, will be evaluated for prizes.

(2) Prizes
Primary First Prize, Secondary First Prize, and Second Prizes will be awarded to selected Nishikigoi in each group. The number of Nishikigoi in each group, and there will be no ranking of all the Second Prizes given.

(3) Special Awards
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Award and Fisheries Agency Award will be given to Nishikigoi which won Overall First Prize and Overall Second Prize respectively. The Governor's Award will be given to a Nishikigoi which won First Prize in their group.
The Niigata Prefectural Society of Nishikigoi President's Special Award will be given to three outstanding Nishikigoi. The Jumbo Award will be givin to a Nishikigoi.
Others
If visitors are interested in buying Nishikigoi show operating staff may coordinate trade between visitors and the Nishikigoi breeders as a promotional means to help expand the market.
